CENTRO DESIGN RIO
CentroDesignRio aims to increase the competitiveness of Rio de Janeiro enterprises, promoting design as a tool for differentiation, innovation and valorization of products and services.
Our main goal is to link the offer and demand of design services in the State of Rio de Janeiro, connecting designers to small and medium businesses. CDR offers to the market a portfolio of technical and strategic services, in partnership with institutions, enterprises and design consulting firms.
CentroDesignRio works together with industrial representations and government institutions on the survey of design services demands, identifying opportunities and stimulating enterprises to make use of design either graphic, product, packaging, furniture, jewelry, fashion or craftwork. These opportunities are conducted to designers and design consulting firms registered at CDR.
CentroDesignRio is part of a national network of 15 design centers created under SEBRAE’s program Via Design and is the result of a partnership between the following institutions:
- National Institute of Technology/Ministry of Science and Technology - INT/MCT;
- Brazilian Service for Support of Small and Medium Enterprises - SEBRAE;
- Association of the Jewelry Manufacturers of Rio de Janeiro – AJORIO
- Industry Federation of Rio de Janeiro State – FIRJAN;
- Catholic University – PUC-Rio;
- Industrial Design School/ State University of Rio de Janeiro – ESDI/ UERJ;
- Rio de Janeiro City Hall;
- Rio de Janeiro State Government;
- Association of Rudimentary Craftsmen of Rio de Janeiro - AArt
PRODUCTION
Assisted by research and promotion institutions, public organizations and private enterprises of technical and strategic consultancy, we look for solutions that enable the use of design aimed at providing ROI.
Our work goes from choosing the proper professional to attend design related needs in the enterprises, to guidance toward planning and development of products and services. We do not work on the creative part of the projects; instead of it CDR promotes and organizes the relationship between designers and enterprises.
PROMOTION
CDR develops advertising activities to promote Brazilian design sponsored by private or public initiatives, such as: exhibitions, seminars, fairs, competitions and design publications. Our website is always updated with information on national and international events and competitions.
TRAINING
CDR organizes curses, lectures, seminars and workshops, aiming at the qualification and preparation of students and professionals to attend market needs. We also have design related books and magazines available at CDR for acquisition and consultation.
DATA BASE
More than 300 design offices and designers are registered at CDR. Professionals can advertise their services portfolio and contact information through our website. Designers, design firms, professionals and suppliers receive a monthly newsletter with national and foreign events and competitions calendar and news.
LEGAL PROTECTION
CDR offers orientation to designers and entrepreneurs on industrial property (trademarks and patents).
